THE GERRIT BED
SIMON HAMUI STUDIO INVITES VERDI FOR A FIRST COLLABORATION, REIMAGINING THE ICONIC GERRIT BED—PART OF THE SH COLLECTION—TO CREATE A DIALOGUE BETWEEN TWO CREATIVE WORLDS THAT SHARE A DEEP RESPECT FOR MATERIALITY, CRAFTSMANSHIP, AND TIMELESS DESIGN.

This collaboration brings together Simon Hamui Studio’s architectural sensibility, shaped by a deep connection to Mexico’s design culture, and VERDI’s distinctive textile language, developed in Colombia through the weaving of natural fibers with metals into contemporary forms.
Reimagining the iconic four-poster bed, the Gerrit becomes a canvas for both studios: Hamui’s refined structure is complemented by VERDI’s textures, warmth, and movement through a custom-designed textile intervention on the headboard and surrounding linen curtains.

The result is a sculptural, tactile piece that lives at the intersection of furniture and art—a celebration of Latin American design, where tradition meets innovation.
Presented in VERDI’s Mexico City showroom, the piece honors the creative synergy between both studios and highlights the richness of cross-cultural design conversations within the region.
This first collaboration marks the beginning of an ongoing dialogue rooted in shared values and a commitment to craftsmanship, cultural identity, and Latin American excellence.
